How It All Started

“Recruitment kind of found me!”

Like many in the industry, Tarryn didn’t set out to become a recruiter, but the industry had other plans.

"I met a recruiter and business owner when I interviewed for a banking role. Instead of getting that job, I walked out with an offer to join her recruitment team and just like that, my career began!”

Fast-forward 20 years, and she’s still just as passionate.

“No two days are the same. Whether I’m supporting clients, helping candidates take their next step, or mentoring my team, I get to make a positive impact every day. That’s what keeps me going.”

The Big Move: From South Africa to New Zealand

In 2020, she and her family relocated to New Zealand just weeks before the first national lockdown.

“It was a wild time! The biggest challenge was building a network from scratch in a much smaller, relationship-driven market.”

She also had to learn the ropes quickly, from understanding NZ employment law and immigration policies to embracing the tempo of the temp market, "It was a steep learning curve, but so worth it.”

Recruitment is fast-paced, but her approach is grounded and intentional, “you can’t be everything to everyone and that’s okay. I’ve learned to set realistic expectations, act with urgency, and always follow through on my word. Integrity is everything.”
