Meet Keir Morrison: Our Business Manager in Invercargill

At Enterprise Recruitment, we pride ourselves on building strong, lasting relationships with our clients and candidates. Today, we’re excited to introduce Keir Morrison, our Business Manager in Invercargill. Keir’s wealth of experience, combined with his deep understanding of the local market, makes him an invaluable part of our team. Let’s take a closer look at Keir's journey and expertise.

A Journey Built on Relationships and Results

Keir joined Enterprise Recruitment in 2013, starting his career in the recruitment industry. Over the years, he has worked across a wide range of sectors, offering tailored staffing solutions in permanent, temporary, and contract recruitment. Keir’s dedication and hard work led to his promotion to Branch Manager in late 2016.

What sets Keir apart is his commitment to understanding the unique needs of each client. He is passionate about the Invercargill region and places great emphasis on building long-term partnerships. Whether managing a large temporary workforce, leading recruitment campaigns for major employers, or sourcing high-level technical and executive staff, Keir has consistently delivered exceptional results.

"I've always believed that lasting partnerships are built on trust, service, and a deep understanding of the bigger picture," says Keir. "It’s not just about providing a solution, but the right solution for each business and role."

Areas of Specialisation

Keir specialises in permanent recruitment across various industries, with specific expertise on management and supervisory roles, professional trades, and office & administrative support positions. With a keen eye for talent and a focus on cultural fit, he works closely with both employers and candidates to ensure the best possible match.

Success Story: Building Strong Partnerships Through Service

With over a decade of experience in the industry, Keir has found that the best partnerships often spring from a willingness to say "yes" to smaller projects or assistance with urgent talent needs. This approach has helped Enterprise Recruitment bring on several of its top nationwide clients, building knowledge, trust, and meaningful relationships along the way.

A key highlight for Keir in recent years was filling two senior managerial roles - one for a local government position and another for a nationwide wholesaler. Both candidates were people Keir had known personally for over a decade. While neither of them were actively seeking a job at the time, Keir understood the client's needs and presented them with an opportunity that was a perfect fit. The success of these placements demonstrated how understanding both the client’s requirements and the candidate’s career potential can result in a rewarding outcome for all parties.

Adapting to the Unique Needs of the Invercargill Region

When asked how his team are catering to their region, Keir shared “Southland is a small but tightly-knit region where local knowledge and ethics hold significant value. This is essential when working with businesses and individuals here.” While Keir’s primary focus is on the Southland region, he is not limited by geography - Enterprise Recruitment works with clients from Kaitaia to Bluff.

"Invercargill is an amazing place to live and work, with a lifestyle and affordability that many envy," says Keir. "It’s a common joke here not to tell everyone how good it is, or they’ll all want to move here! As a local, I love being an ambassador for the region, helping companies grow, and attracting talent to the South."

Building Strong, Lasting Partnerships with Recruitment Agencies

When it comes to building lasting partnerships with a recruitment agency, Keir believes employers should focus on finding an agency with shared values and a genuine interest in understanding their business goals. A true recruitment partner takes a relationship-driven approach, not just a transactional one. This means being proactive and reactive to support the business, whether during growth phases or through market fluctuations.

"Good recruiters, through ongoing relationships, will often identify great candidates with desirable skills for your team before you even know you need them," Keir adds. "They will always prioritise your business needs and ensure a strong fit for your company culture."

The Future of Recruitment in the South Island

Looking ahead, Keir is optimistic about the future of recruitment in the South Island. While technology continues to shape the industry, he believes the core fundamentals such as building relationships and understanding people, remain unchanged. The job market for 2025 is expected to be favourable for Keir’s team, who have numerous projects planned and a positive outlook.

"The future is exciting, with technology enabling us to broaden our reach. However, the strength of our local network and personal connections will always be a crucial asset. By combining cutting-edge technology with a well-established national and international network, we ensure we have the right resources at the right time," Keir explains.

What’s Next?

Keir’s focus remains on helping businesses in Invercargill and beyond navigate their recruitment needs. Whether you’re looking to fill a single role or manage a large-scale recruitment drive, Keir is here to help.
